Garment decoration

Can you put logos on garments?
Yes, we can embroider garments, apply heatseal transfers or screenprint onto garments
What type of logo is best for my garments?
Virtually any type of garments can be embroidered, however it is not always the best way to decorate a garment. There are a number of things to consider regarding what method is best.
T Shirts, Polo Shirts, Sweatshirts, Hoodies, Fleece’s, etc can all be embroidered, however some logo’s are too complex to embroider in which case we will need to apply a heatseal transfer, if this is the case we will advise you of this. If you require a logo on a waterproof garment then the best method is a heatseal transfer as this will not compromise the waterproof capabilities of the garment, however if the item is just showerproof, then it is often OK to embroider the garment. Finally, fleece jackets and similar products can not have heatseal transfers applied as they are not a flat surface and the transfer cannot bond with the garment.
How long will it take to complete a new order with embroidery/transfers?
Typically 2-3 weeks the sooner we receive the artwork the sooner the process begins. You will receive a proof of the design, either by e-mail or post and this needs to be approved before the job can be completed
How long will it take to complete a re-order?
Normally 5-7 working days, subject to stock availability
Is there a minimum order?
Yes, for embroidery the minimum order is 4 garments, for heatseal transfers we require a minimum of 6 garments, some very complicated heatseal transfers need to be made out of house and are subject to a minimum of 25 transfers (info button). Screenprint minimum is 12 garments.
Is there a design set up charge?
Yes, we currently charge £15 + vat for generating a new design, if both embroidery & transfers/screenprint is required there is just the one charge.
How many colours can I put/use in my logo
For embroidery the limit is 10 colours, for heatseal transfers the number of colours in unlimited, however if a multicolour & multitone design is required this would be made out of house and is subject to a minimum of 25 transfers
Can you use an existing embroidery design that I have had digitised by another company?
Yes, however we will require the design in Tajima DST format. This can be sent electronically or you can send us the disk in the post
What if I don’t have a design, can you do one for me?
We are happy to generate ideas for you, we would normally produce 3 designs and request feedback, or you can choose from those 3 designs if you like one that you see.
Are there any special care guidelines for decorated garments?
Yes, heatseal transfers should not be ironed on and it is preferable not to tumble dry this type of decoration. You can iron the reverse of the transfer
Which type of decoration is cheapest
We operate a set pricing policy for garment decoration, so a logo/text on the left breast costs £2.50 each + vat and a logo/text on the reverse of a garments costs £3.50 each + vat. The only exception to this is heatseal transfers made out of house, which are subject to a minimum of 25 transfers and the cost varies depending upon size and number of colours in the logo/design
Can decorated items be returned or exchanged?
Once a product has been logod it can’t be returned unless it is faulty. We will not accept decorated goods on the grounds of incorrect size, etc (see below for more information on this issue). Faulty goods which have been decorated can only be replaced on a like for like basis, i.e. you can not return the item and request a larger or smaller size/different colour or request a refund.
Uploading images
When you select garment decoration with your products, you will be asked to indicate if this is an existing design, i.e. Uniforms Direct have provided garments with this design before, or if you have not had garments decorated by us before you will need to tick NEW DESIGN. At the checkout you will be given the opportunity to upload your design electronically, or indicate that you will send the logo under separate cover, i.e. in a separate e-mail or by post, etc.
The design set up charge applies once only and costs £15.00 + vat. File formats we can accept are JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG and similar.

Yes, again call our sales team who will be happy to advise on sample availability and returns procedure.
Do you have catalogues you can send us?
Yes, simply fill out the brochure request form, indicating your requirements and we’ll send you the most appropriate catalogues. It isn’t possible for us to list all the products that we can source, therefore it’s important for us to know what you are wanting to purchase.
Can you make garments specially for our company/organisation?
Yes, we are able to source bespoke products, subject to minimum orders and lead times. Please call us on 0800 7319019 & ask to speak to our Customer Relationship Manager
How do we know what size we need?
Each product has a link to that specific manufacturer’s size charts. This will also provide information of where to measure yourself to ensure you select the correct fit. For more information, or advice please call us on 0800 7319019.
What if we get the wrong size and need to exchange the item(s)?
Please refer to our returns, exchanges and refunds section (link required)
Can we see actual colours of products before we buy?
It may be possible for us to send a swatch of a particular colour, or a manufacturers colour chart, please fill out and enquiry for, or call us on 0800 7319019
Is a measuring service available?
If there are sufficient wearers to warrant a measuring service we can either visit & measure or provide a sizing set, depending upon the range of products require and your location is relation to our operating base, which is York, UK. We are able to measure people on site at our premises in York.

Delivery of orders

Goods which do not require garment decoration will be despatched within 48hrs of ordering, depending upon stock availability
New orders which require embroidery or transfers take 2-3 weeks to complete, repeat orders are normally completed in 5-7 working days, depending upon stock availability. Goods are despatched by a variety of methods and you will be advised which has been used for despatch of your order.
If your order is for a mixture of goods and some do not require garment decoration, we will send all the goods at once when the garment decoration is complete.
If we have used a carrier we send goods on a next day service and you will be able to track your delivery online, via a link that we will send you.
If we have sent the item with Royal Mail delivery is 2-3 working days.
